The Fund for the Financing of the Microempresa, Inc. (FondoMicro) it is a private institution created in 1989 to the help of the Law 520 on institutions without ends and lucre and incorporate by means of the Ordinance 286-89 of the Executive Power.
FondoMicro arose for the initiative of eleven managers of the Dominican Republic interested in the development of the micro and small company in the country, understanding that these companies cooperate from an important way to the global development of the nation and they strengthen the democratic fiber on which the society of the Dominican Republic is sustained. The institution begins as a project that it has the back of the Agency for the Interamerican Development (AID).
Motivation of our creation
according to that settled down by the statutes the object of this institution is to "improve the existent interrelation among the diverse managerial strata that motivate the development and growth of the economy of the country and they promote the private initiative, to strengthen the system of free company in the Republic Of the Dominican Republic and to capture financial resources of external and internal sources, by means of donations, loans, emission of funds and any other licit form, to channel them to the sectors of the micro, small and/or medium company."

With the purpose of giving execution to this disposition, they have been developed different you program tendentes to channel resources like institution of second floor that he/she doesn't carry out transactions directly with the end users.
From their beginnings the credit program was conceived to work with the institutions that had microfinanciamiento programs channeling resources to market rates and supervising the efficient operation of these institutions with the viabilizar purpose the credit like a tool of growth and operative invigoration of the non government organizations (ONGs) of financial support to the microempresas.
The credit program didn't donate resources, for that reason they were
evaluated the institutions that would qualify as clients to grant a credit
with return carefully and operated with managerial principles.
In addition, programs were developed for the institutional invigoration
of the ONGs and cooperative through which the funds are channeled for
the financing programs to the microempresa as well as investigations on
the sector to know the market to which the financial resources are dedicated.
OUR ROLE
In definitive, the role of FondoMicro has been a decisive factor to improve
the access to financial services on the part of the micro and small company.
This was achieved through the invigoration, development and direct financing to the institutions specialized in financial attention to this segment of the market and by means of the popularization of the important paper that these managers come playing in the national economy, motivating the expansion on the part of the bank sector to assist them.
